What should I learn next to my guitar? (Music Theory)?

Played for almost two years. I know how to play and sing some songs, but I'd be able to improvise more. I know how to read music, I know my relative minor scale, harmonic minor, a theory cage. Usually improvisation when I head to climb over / under and the collection of random notes or arpeggio regardless of their agreement to play. Otherwise, if the pace I found myself playing just to play major, minor, 7, or Power Chords. Suggestions?

I played for about 40 years. Was initially self-taught but aims to capture the lessons on the finger and flat picking. insted agreements strumming, trying to play individual notes within chords and melodic lines work on par with the bass line. when you play ahead, compare notes open that can be put into play, and played against. If you are really adventurous, get hot discs jazz, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker. I suggest that someone other than guitar because his approach to music is so different.
